First Impressions… Benefit ‘Stay Don’t Stray’

Benefit Stay Don't Stray

Good afternoon class,

This week I was lucky enough to get my hands on a well-loved product created by the lovely ladies at Benefit Cosmetics. To be totally honest, I hadn’t heard much detail regarding this product so I don’t really know what to expect. However I am currently writing this blog post as I am trying this out for the first time…

Looking at the packaging I am quite impressed. For a start, I had no idea that this was not only an eyelid/eye shadow primer but it also can be used under the eyes to help your concealer stay as well! That has just made me like really excited. I have found my concealer looking a little cakey and creasing like an old woman underneath my eyes lately so this product has arrived just in the nick of time!

I absolutely love the size! I had no idea it would be this big! It’s ginormous! I feel as if this product will last me for forever. I don’t have a concealer this big and I figure I’ll be using about as much as I’d use of my concealer each day (maybe a little more for the eyelids). Opening it up I see it has a doe foot applicator (is that how you say it? It sounds wrong but let’s just roll with it) which I absolutely love! I love using this type of applicator for concealer because it applies so easily and there’s always heaps on the wee doe foot top part so you don’t need to keep pumping the applicator in the product and getting air trapped inside. I’m finding it a little bit hard to close the lid properly? It’s one of those situations where it doesn’t like going all the way down but I can live with that.

I’ve put some Porefessional primer on and then my foundation (Kat Von D Tattoo Lock-It in the shade Light 46) with my Beauty Blender and now I’m applying the Stay Don’t Stray all over my lid and under my eyes where I would normally put my concealer. I was able to do one eye and half of the second without dipping the applicator in for some more product so that is good! I just used my finger tips to pat it into the skin.

It looks like a concealer once applied, like it’s quite pigmented! I could potentially use this on it’s own, however… the Light/Medium shade is a little bit darker than I would normally go for a concealer.

I’m going to put my Collection Lasting Perfection concealer in Fair 01 on under my eyes and pat it in with my fingertips.

Collection Lasting Perfection ConcealerIt looks really full coverage which is great and it’s really brightened up my eye area! I can’t see any creasing yet which is great – fingers crossed it will stay perfect for the whole day!

4:43pm – Okay team it’s been on all day and WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT? No creasing. That’s right. No creasing ladies and gentleman! I can’t say I had a very strenuous day today which would have really affected my makeup so I will still have to put it to the test on a school day but I’m really impressed all the same! My eye shadow has worn off a wee bit but not majorly and it has been a fairly long time so quite impressive really! I probably could have applied a little bit more to help my eye shadow stick better but that’s all good. I will know for next time!

Overall, I am really liking this product. It’s SUCH a decent size and I think it will last me for forever. I love that it can be used for priming both the lid and under the eyes. It will make it really good for travel – plus I’m just a bit lazy and a 2-in-1 product always gets a big tick in my book!  It’s $49 from Smith and Caughey’s in Auckland which is sort of on the expensive side but for the amount of product you get I think it’s a bit of a steal! Plus you could pair it with a cheaper concealer product or even use it as a concealer as well as a primer if you don’t get dark under eye areas.

Let me know if you’ve used this product before and what you think of it? Does anyone else’s not close properly or is that just me?! Which concealer do you use it with? Love to hear from you xx
