Colourpop Haul & Review – Part 4 (told you I was addicted!) ♥♥

colourpop haul

Good morning class,

Got some good news! Another Colourpop haul! Yes. Obviously I’m still obsessed and still Colourpop’s best customer. Nope, no sponsorship deals yet haha – fingers crossed 😉

Anyway, if you know me – then you blimmen’ well know that I am ADDICTED, OBSESSED, INFATUATED, CRAZY FOR, MANIC, and PASSIONATE about Colourpop. I honestly don’t know what it is. But I cannot help myself. ALL of this has been bought with my own money and I can tell you right now, when I told my mum how much I’d spent thus far… she was not impressed! Let’s hope the boyfriend doesn’t find out eh?

I am hoping that you guys like Colourpop as much as me, considering I talk about it ALL THE TIME. However, I feel like Colourpop is something that people of all ages could get into – I’ve got my mum addicted as well! Their colour range is phenomenal and there is something everybody would like. Whether it’s your nana, mum, dad, brother, auntie, friend – you name it, they’re bound to be interested in SOMETHING from the range.

Shop Colourpop here

This time I picked up four of the new highlighters (how could I NOT!?), four eye shadows, four Lippie Stix, and one Lippie Pencil. I’ve been using them for a couple of weeks because I wanted to haul & review them for you – otherwise I’ll get excited and want to write about them again!

Note: One Lippie Pencil & Super Shock Eye Shadow is missing from this photo due to it being already opened and used. x

Highlighters

Honestly, there’s no way on earth I could wait until the end to talk about the highlighters. Highlighters in general are my favourite makeup product. Due to the fact that I am obsessed with shimmer, glitter, and light shades. Therefore it’d be rude not to mention them first 😉

I bought four of the highlighters (but have another one on the way, and more in my cart). I got from top left to bottom right; Stole The Show, Monster, Wisp, Hippo.colourpop highlighters

Stole The Show looks a bit munted because it was broken via transit and I had to squish it back together (however the beauty of these products is they can squish back together so easily and become as good as new!).

My FAVOURITE shade has to be Monster – it’s like a bright, light coloured shade with this amazing duo chrome pink shimmery amazingness to it. Like, you’ll see on the swatches below that it’s got this gorgeous pink sheen to it and it comes up AMAZING on the cheek. It honestly is the most outstanding highlighter I’ve ever used. It looks unreal with a light pink blush and I ALWAYS get compliments when I wear it. I wore it the other day and one of the girls in my class looked at me for a moment and proclaimed – “Miss White, you have a really nice face!”. I put it all down to this highlighter.

Stole The Show is my next fave because it’s got everything I love in a highlight. It’s pigmented, light champagne, plenty of shimmer and pink, gold and silver glimmery bits. It is perfection in a highlighter.

The feel of these highlighters is a mix between the blushes and eye shadows. It’s SO easy to apply (I rub my fingers in the pot, and pat it onto my cheek bones after applying foundation). You only need the tiniest bit and voila – you’re a goddess!

Hippo is a gorgeous bright shade with lavender and lilac undertones and gorgeous shimmers throughout it. Probably the least pigmented of the bunch, it still looks gorgeous on the cheek for a more subtle highlight (rather than a glitter bomb).

Wisp is the epitome of Soft and Gentle by Mac in a Colourpop highlighter. It looks dark in the pan and in the swatches (just like S&G) but once applied it comes off as this gorgeous golden highlight that makes you look like a mermaid-slash-Greek goddess.

colourpop highlighters swatches

They’re not the most amazing swatches of all time because they’re highlighters so they’re not exactly easy to swatch. They’re not supposed to be super duper pigmented because, well, you don’t want a pigmented line of gold across your cheeks do you!? Hopefully my wrinkly finger-swatches will help you get an idea of the colours. But you probably just need to buy them. All of them. And buy me some too.

Super Shock Eye Shadows

colourpop eyeshadows

I bought four Super Shock Eye Shadows in the colours (from left to right) Bite, Game Plan, Get Lucky and So Quiche.

So Quiche happens to be my most favourite colour out of every eye shadow I own by Colourpop (which is alot). It’s really hard to do it justice description-wise as the colour simply won’t show up in photos. However it’s like a browny, gun metal sort of colour with some silver shimmer in it… but GET THIS. It also has these amazing pink & violet duo chrome metallic shimmer glitter bits in it which make it AMAZING. Colourpop says it’s the “Queen of the shadows” which I totally agree with! A MUST HAVE.

Bite is awesome because it’s a perfectly pigmented matte white. So handy to have in your collection and I find it applies nicer than the NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk so I recommend it. Good as a base for your shadow to make the colours pop!

Game Plan always reminds me of that stupid movie with The Rock in it. However it’s an amazing bronze-orange colour which makes your eyes POP. It’s perfect on the lid with a nice dark brown underneath and it is quick and easy to apply and REALLY pigmented.

Get Lucky is basically just the perfect gold. In fact, I think even Colourpop themselves describe it as that too. I agree with them. It’s just a really nice gold. Nice and metallic and pigmented. It is fab.

Lip Products

Girrrrl, you know I won’t be making a Colourpop order without some lip products! I won’t be making any orders without lip products. I am a lip product addict. See: 50 Shades of Pink

colourpop lippie stix

I got four Lippie Stix in the colours Pepper, Tootsie, Leather and Corset + the matching Lippie Pencil for Tootsie.

I got the lip pencil in the shade Leather in one of my first hauls and stupidly didn’t buy the lipstick. Finally I have it in my hot little hands and we’re just in time for autumn! This colour is outrageously pigmented. It’s a matte formula and it looks AWESOME. It brings me back to my emo days that’s for sure.

Pepper is VERY similar to Brills (See: first Colourpop haul) however it’s slightly more pink than purple and it is a bit more wearable. I am loving it actually and I like how it’s sort of inbetween pink and purple. Seems like the perfect Miss White colour.

Corset is in the Hyper-Glossy formula and it’s the first glossy lipstick I’ve tried from Colourpop. I hate glossy lipsticks because they’re never pigmented enough and they don’t last very long. This one, I find is actually neither of those things. It’s ridiculously pigmented for a glossy lipstick and it lasts for ages! Not quite as long as a matte but it’d give them a run for their money! The glossy finish looks gorgeous on the lips and I am obsessed.

Tootsie is literally an exact dupe for Underground by Gerard Cosmetics – honestly, it’s exactly the same. I actually think Toosie is a better formula too! It’s creamier, lasts longer, and you can buy the lipstick and matching pencil for half the price of Underground. Underground is supposed to be a dupe for Cashmere by Lime Crime which means I guess Tootsie is also a dupe for that too. I LOVE Tootsie – I find this colour is really flattering on my skin tone!

Well, overall it was a GREAT haul! I picked up some new favourites and I finally got to try the highlighters I’ve been lusting after for so long. If you haven’t tried Colourpop yet, you honestly need to. You’re missing out! The Highlighters, Blushers and Bronzers are only $8 US and the Lippie Stix, Lippie Pencils and Super Shock Eyeshadows are $5 US. It’s actually unreal. If you live in the US and you haven’t tried them yet then I’m banning you from my page until you make an order (not really, but please make one!). If you don’t trust my advice then do a quick Google search and you’ll see the millions of positive reviews about Colourpop!

First Impressions… Benefit ‘Stay Don’t Stray’

Benefit Stay Don't Stray

Good afternoon class,

This week I was lucky enough to get my hands on a well-loved product created by the lovely ladies at Benefit Cosmetics. To be totally honest, I hadn’t heard much detail regarding this product so I don’t really know what to expect. However I am currently writing this blog post as I am trying this out for the first time…

Looking at the packaging I am quite impressed. For a start, I had no idea that this was not only an eyelid/eye shadow primer but it also can be used under the eyes to help your concealer stay as well! That has just made me like really excited. I have found my concealer looking a little cakey and creasing like an old woman underneath my eyes lately so this product has arrived just in the nick of time!

I absolutely love the size! I had no idea it would be this big! It’s ginormous! I feel as if this product will last me for forever. I don’t have a concealer this big and I figure I’ll be using about as much as I’d use of my concealer each day (maybe a little more for the eyelids). Opening it up I see it has a doe foot applicator (is that how you say it? It sounds wrong but let’s just roll with it) which I absolutely love! I love using this type of applicator for concealer because it applies so easily and there’s always heaps on the wee doe foot top part so you don’t need to keep pumping the applicator in the product and getting air trapped inside. I’m finding it a little bit hard to close the lid properly? It’s one of those situations where it doesn’t like going all the way down but I can live with that. Continue reading

Australis Fresh & Flawless

Australis ”Fresh and Flawless” powder in the shade “Natural” ($18NZ at Kmart)

Good afternoon class,

Ahhh writing this post makes me feel sort of content and warm and comfortable inside because I am so SO SO incredibly in love with this powder that I can almost hear the wedding bells ringing and I’m just so excited to spread the love and tell you all about it too!

I remember the first time F&F and I laid eyes on each other… it was after hearing rave reviews on the likes of ‘Girl Related’ and ‘Makeup Obsessives’ on Facebook and I immediately went on a mission to K-mart to get my little white double-jointed fingers on this beautiful bounty. From that moment on I knew I’d never try another powder again. Of course I have tried other powders, because you guys know me and you know that I just can’t help myself, BUT they’ve never been as good as the Australis Fresh & Flawless powder.

I remember the urgency to buy another powder when I hit pan, and once they ran out at my local Kmart and I could not even go about my daily life as every second was spent with worry for what I would do when I ran out completely. Now, of course, I’ve got a million back-ups and I order in bulk from Australis’ website. However, they only ship to Australia so I have to ask my uncle very nicely if he can bring my beloved haul back to Auckland. Continue reading

GET ON MY LIPS

Urban Decay Revolution LipstickUrban Decay Anarchy lipstick

Good afternoon class,

I have decided today to chat about a product that brings a bit of a tear to my eye. Why? Well for two reasons. One being because it is so fantastic of course, and the other being because it’s oh-so underrated! And to be quite honest, I don’t know why it’s underrated (apologies to my students for starting a sentence with “and” – oops!). I mean it’s a decent brand, it’s readily available, so WHY do I never hear about it?

This magical, mysterious product is the Urban Decay ‘Revolution Lipstick’ and mine is in the colour ‘Anarchy’. These retail on http://www.beautybay.com for $27.50 AUD and can be shipped internationally.

Jordana Benefit They're Real Collection Does It All Too Faced Better Than Sex

From top to bottom; Too Faced ‘Better Than Sex’ mascara ($29.60AUD), Benefit ‘They’re Real’ mascara ($45 NZ), Collection ‘Does It All’ mascara ($17.49) and Jordana ‘Best Lash Extreme’ mascara ($3.59 US).

Good afternoon class,

Keeping on with the theme of comparisons on my blog currently, I thought I’d chat to you today about my favourite mascaras. Lashes are super important because we use them to flutter at potential suitors, they help us perfect our sarcastic eye roll and personally, I need to compete with some of my students because little boys seem to have the most beautiful thick, long eyelashes (unfair!). I am super picky when it comes to what I’m going to put all over my eye area and especially the concoction I am smothering all over my lashes but these four mascaras have stolen my heart and opened my eyes (literally). BH Blush Bounty

BH Cosmetics Blush Palette Glamourous

Good afternoon class,

Ahh blush, it has the power to make you look angelic, embarrassed, child-like, hot, orange, glowing or potentially, sunburned. What a lot of power that is. I can almost feel the rays of emotion coming from this palette.

Today I’d like to chat to you about this blush palette I received recently from an order on Beauty Joint (www.beautyjoint.com). It is the BH Cosmetics Glamorous 10 Blush Palette. I have heard really great things about BH cosmetics so I thought I’d give it a wee go (why not eh?). I have always wanted a blush palette purely because I always buy pink blush shades and I wanted to mix it up a bit. I love this palette because it’s so cheap – so I was able to justify my purchase of $13.29US on an entire palette – even though I may not use all the shades!

The worst thing about this palette is that the shades don’t have names so it’s going to be difficult to describe which shade I’m referring to but hopefully we will get there and if that’s the worst thing then it must be pretty fab!

The packaging is very simple and sleek, it’s nothing special really. As a warning – it is quite thin and I feel as though it could break fairly easily. Or at least it probably isn’t great protection for your blushes. That being said, I’d recommend not taking this one away travelling with you, and be careful where you store it.

I was most excited to get this palette because of the gorgeous lavender shade in the bottom middle. Like, what? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a blush in that shade before! It is gorgeous. I have no idea what it would look like on the cheek (perhaps like I’ve smothered lavender flowers over my cheeks) but it’s gorgeous all the same. Continue reading

Let’s get NAKED!

Urban Decay NAKED palettesPictured from top to bottom; Urban Decay NAKED palette, Urban Decay NAKED2 palette, Urban Decay NAKED3 palette.

Good Morning Class,

After spending hours awake last night with my brain tick-tick-ticking I decided what I’d like my next blog post to be about. I am a member of several makeup/girl/beauty related Facebook groups and lets just say my news feed is crammed with makeup posts each day. A common topic I’ve noticed on these pages is regarding the creme-de-la-creme of eye shadow palettes… the Urban Decay ‘NAKED’ palettes. Which one should I buy? Which is good for [insert eye colour here]? Which one has the best colours? Which is most pigmented? What if I’ve already got [insert dupe here]? Luckily for all of us (and unluckily for the boyf), I’ve taken the liberty of acquiring all three so that I can review and recommend appropriately.

The Urban Decay NAKED palettes include 12 matte and shimmer shades selected from the Urban Decay shadow collection. They are all neutral shades with each palette having its own theme of colours. These palettes are perfect for creating quick on-the-go looks because they come with so many shades and each one has a double sided brush and mirror. I use these palettes regularly to create simple looks for school and I can quickly sparkle it up with some of the gorgeous shimmery shades (which the kids LOVE). I have been told “Miss White I love your eyeshadow today!” after using one of these palettes.

Today I’m going to tell you my thoughts about each palette and I might even spill which one is my number one favourite palette from the collection (which happens to include my second favourite eye shadow of all time!). Continue reading

Bangin’ bronze buys

Summer, a time for chillin’ out max and relaxin’ all cool and obviously getting our bronze glow on. Apologies in advance… this post is not about fake tan – although that will be coming soon I promise you. It’s about what I like to think of as fake tan’s little sister – the bronzer. Dun.. dun… duuuun. I am hoping that sounded a little ominous because I don’t know about you, but I used to be a little bit scared of bronzer – and for good reason! Bronzer is scary! Especially for us pale-faced babes, a good bronzer can be hard to find. You can end up looking muddy, orange or if you’re lucky – like a muddy, orange disco ball!

In this post I will be sharing with you my go-to bronzers, the ones I grab for on a regular basis. These bronzers work for my pale skin, but they will also look lovely on other skin tones too.
