Good morning class,
Uh, yes. Another haul. Erm, I hope you like hauls… this is not the end of them. Apologies in advance, but I just. love. shopping! Is that such a sin? Well, my boyfriend might tell you so… but I like to think otherwise. I call it ‘investing towards my collection’. Let’s go with that eh?
Today comes something a little more than a haul. I’ve had some time off blogging for a week or so (not that you’d have noticed as I had a few posts ready to go). However I’ve been away on a little holiday back home to visit the family. Tom and I traveled to Queenstown and Dunedin for just over a week and it was lovely. I ate my favourite dish at my favourite Thai resturant THREE times, and I cuddled my family cat, and I froze my butt off. Goodbye butt! Anyway this story was going somewhere. This post is a little more than a haul because I’ve had a good two weeks to try out these products before writing about them. So it’s sort of like a haul… but also a review. And also a comparison between some other Australis products. Let’s get into it!
I love Australis Cosmetics because they’re just plain good. They’re also vegan and cheap which are two alluring factors when makeup shopping. I picked up seven items from the Australis Website and got my uncle to bring them over from Australia. It’s way cheaper that way considering the Australian dollar and the New Zealand dollar are so similar at the moment. Otherwise, Kmart and Farmers stock Australis in NZ. If you’re not in Australia or NZ, the Australis website delivers internationally for a shipping fee of $30 or it’s free if you spend over $100! 10/10 I’d recommend making a cheeky order International people 😉
I got the AC On Tour Contouring and Highlighting Kit $16, Metallix Eyeshadows in ‘Pearl Jammin’, Guns and Rose Petals, and Lana Del Grey’, $8.95, Velourlips in DOO-BAI and BUDA-PASH, $9.95 and Fresh & Flawless Powder in Light Beige, $11.95. I am super pleased with these purchases and I spent over $50 which equals free shipping in Australia! Yay!
AC On Tour Contouring and Highlighting Kit
EVERYONE and their dog and their dogs uncle’s friend have been talking about this and various other contouring kits. Personally, I am happy with my highlighting and contouring singular products at present so I didn’t want to splash out on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contouring Kit, but I was still sort of tempted to see what the fuss was about. So I picked up this baby for $16.
The powders are quite powdery. Duh. But you know what I mean. They’re also pretty pigmented which I like in a highlight but not so much in a bronzer. I’ve heard that they’re super hard to blend out, I tried putting a heap on and blending it all out to test this theory and I do agree. However, I also found that if you’re light with the brush then it’s not so bad and is totally useable.
I would definitely say this is not pale-skin-friendly. I found it difficult to use the bronzing and contouring colours on my complexion. However, I absolutely love the yellow ‘banana’ shade for setting my under eye concealer. The highlight shade is lovely as well! The middle grey/brown shade was alright for contouring but you definitely need a light hand.
Overall, I’d say that if you’re a beginner to contouring then this may not be for you. However, if you’ve had a go at it before and you want all your products in one place – then definitely try this out! It’s really cheap and it’d be nice on medium skin tones.
Fresh & Flawless Powder
When I heard they were bringing out a lighter Fresh & Flawless powder out, I just HAD to get my hands on it! As you know, this powder is my HOLY GRAIL. I usually have about 8 back ups of this stored away in my cupboard. Natural does match me, but I could do with something slightly lighter. So I thought I’d give this new one a try with my complexion.
Here’s a comparison of the two colours. Light Beige is the new shade that they’ve bought out.
Natural is on the left, and Light Beige is on the right.
As you can see they’re both rather similar, but Natural has more of a tan glow than Light Beige. Lt Beige is actually probably like an NC15 in the Mac Studio Fix powder whereas Natural is more of an NC20.
Light Beige is glorious on my skin for the winter when I’m not fake tanning and accompanies my Mac Foundation in NC15 perfectly. I will probably be repurchasing both shades as they both work for my skin in different situations. I think Light Beige could work on skin tones even lighter than an NC15 in Mac, and if you are super pale, then definitely try this one out! They also released two more shades. A middle sort of colour and a darker colour – so if they sound like you then have a look online!
Metallix Eye Shadows
I already owned the Bronzonce shade in my collection and as soon as they made these permanent and released more shades I had to get my wee hands on some. ESPECIALLY Guns and Rose Petals which happens to be the most amazing shade ever. Like what is life.
I absolutely love these eye shadows! They’re creamy in consistency and they are SUPER pigmented and amazing. Similar to Colourpop but a little more creamy and pigmented.
The creamyness can mean that they can crease easily, however if you use only a tiny bit of product, then that isn’t the case. They’re also quite tacky, but I often set them with a similar shimmery shade and they’re stuck for the day.
Guns and Rose Petals looks amazing in the inner corner or on the lid. Pearl Jammin is a gorgeous true gold colour, and Lana Del Grey is a beautiful dark grey/blue colour. I would 100% recommend trying these out. You won’t regret it honestly.
Velourlips
The two shades I picked up this time are the bottom two swatches. DON’T do a Tom and tell me that they look the same. I know. I know they do. I swear one is more brown and one is more red though! Trust me. Anyway, I thought I’d give you swatches of all the shades I own just for reference.
DOO-BAI is the top one and it’s like a deep cranberry red. It looks amazing on, but you definitely need a lip liner with it. I find that because they’re so dark, it’s difficult to apply the product evenly. However, with a lip liner it looks phenomenal. BUDA-PASH is the bottom one and it’s more of a reddy-brown (despite the swatches). It’s also freaking gorgeous and is perfect for the autumn/winter months.
I probably didn’t need both of these shades, but I’ve got them now and I do like them. If I was going to choose one, I’d probably go with BUDA-PASH because I have things similar to DOO-BAI. Definitely get a lip liner if you’re getting one of these though. I bought one from Colourpop. 🙂
Overall, I actually love all the products I picked up which is great. I hate being disappointed. My favourite thing from the haul is definitely that Guns and Rose Petals Metallix eye shadow. Honestly, it’s perfection in an inner corner colour. I feel like I already need a back up!
I love Australis Cosmetics! They’re definitely one of my favourite drug store brands! What’s yours? What have you tried from this haul? What should I buy next? Let me know down below!
Great Haul! I really wish we had that brand here in the US. Everything looks amazing! ❤ xo

You can buy off their website and they’ll ship to you! It’s $30 shipping which is super expensive but it’s free if you spend over $100! So you could go in with some friends and get free shipping! I think they have 25% off for new customers too!

Hi I saw similar products on Aliexpress site selling $3~5 – are they the same products made in China ?

My Australis products say ‘Made in Australia’. I think its also good for me to mention that Aliexpress sells a lot of counterfeit items . I know it seems like a good deal, but there was a recent article highlighting that these products can be filled with nasties, and things that you do not want to be putting on your face so beware 🙂

Nope! That’s a totally different product and brand. I wouldn’t recommend buying makeup items from sites like Aliexpress as they’re not properly branded and you can’t trust what ingredients they’ve used. I’ve heard some awful stories of makeup being purchased off those sites from China and there being traces of feces found in it! It’s definitely better to spend a little bit more and get something that you can trust 😀

I think I also heard a story about urine being found in some of the products. Yuck!

Well I’m a light beige but I also did natural and I’m about an NC20 but Natural was probably a tad dark for me so I’d try Natural?
